A bit of everything

Ever since I got my Coastal Scents 88 palette, I've been experimenting with different looks. I still don't think applying eyeshadow is my forte but I'm learning, hopefully I'll improve. If not...I'll just stick with fashion. ;)

Here's a purple smokey eye look that I did:

I'm not the most organized person in the world, I usually jot down notes/appointments on my cell phone. But I personally think writing things down by hand is better. So I thought for the new year I'd start using a planner. I also use it as a mini diary.

Got mines from Moleskine. I named her Vivian:

Valentine's Day 2010 was fun. It's the third V-day in a row that I've been single, so I'm used to it. Even when I had a boyfriend, I didn't care so much for it. But now I use it as an excuse to hang out with my girls!! Yay. Who needs lying and manipulative men anyways? Cause I sure don't. :)
On the 13th I hung out with 3 of my close friends for some serious catching up time.
On the actual day of V-day my best friend and I got dressed up and went out to eat at The Cheesecake Factory. I wish I took more pictures, but I tend to forget about my camera when I'm having a lot of fun.

Speaking of Cheesecake Factory, my favorite cheesecake from there is the White Chocolate Raspberry Truffle! I'm having mad cravings for it right at this very moment!! It's crazy delicious:

It even comes in ice cream form! I must head to Walmart tomorrow.

I'm definitely buying one of these lipsticks from MAC's Viva Glam campaign w/ Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper. Anything to support AIDS awareness.

Some things I'm eyeing from Urban Outfitters:

I also want an accessory stand from UO. Just deciding which one, since there is so many to choose from.

On a side note I'm giving up MySpace for lent. Was also considering coffee but that is too hard. ;_;
Feel free to share what you'll be giving up for lent this year. :)

Geek Chic

I did a photo project for a bud Ed. Where I had to emulate a picture. I tried my best, but I was glad to help with his logo project.

^I tend to act a bit goofy in front of a camera.

Entire outfit from
(minus the leggings/shoes): Forever 21
Leggings: INC International Concepts
Pumps: Nine West

I think a black blazer is an essential in every girl's wardrobe. It can be dressed up; dressed down; for a casual look or for work. The possibilities are endless!

I'm a bit late on this, though I did tweet about it on the actual day, but again RIP Alexander McQueen. So young and talented. What a loss to the fashion industry, you will be missed. :(

Currently lusting over

I've been in love with gray nail polish since December. I love how unconventional it is.

Photobucket

^Ok so my picture isn't the best example since my polish was chipping at the time. But just trying to prove how much I love it. :)
My shade is from Forever 21, by the way.

I'd like an upgrade though! Here are some shades that I want to own. As well as other things on my wish list:

Chanel Particuliere

Urban Decay: Alice in Wonderland Book Of Shadows

This is a dream come true for anyone who is a Tim Burton or Urban Decay enthusiast. Though I am a bit scared if I were to get my hands on this, that it might just go to waste, since I'm still a beginner at applying eyeshadow (well for extreme looks at least). It is a bit pricey, around $50 at Sephora. But I'm still tempted!

I am also considering getting the sleep mask as well.

When I saw this exact picture of Gemma Ward in my Teen Vogue magazine 4 years ago, I fell in love with that purse! And yes I want it in pink as well, though black or white will also do. :)
Ah I would work 2 jobs or more just to get one!

As for life, it has been boring. Can't wait to go back to school in April!

Breaking Point

"Don’t be reckless with other people’s hearts,
don’t put up with people who are reckless with yours."

I still think it is extremely unfortunate how people treat other people's trust. They don't take it seriously at all.

Trust is something big for me, nothing to take lightly. I'm actually an extremely forgiving person, but I know my limits. I know when I look foolish. I know when people view me as a walking doormat. So I learn to stand my ground.

The events that have taken place for almost half a year, is really molding/changing how I view people from now on. I think the really nice, purehearted, trusting, green and naive Isabelle has died. Sadly I don't understand why people can't take me seriously. I need to stop being so nice to everyone. I need to be a cold bitch. I should seriously act like Blair Waldorf from now on. I notice whenever I'm TOO nice and trusting of people, I end up hurt and left feeling like I got taken for granted. They feel they can walk all over me because they know (more like assume) I'll forgive them. I should start being mean and intimidating, so no one can dare mess with me and my feelings.
Ironically a lot of people have told me their first impression of me is in fact intimidating and a bit snobby (probably because in general I don't tend to smile a lot, especially around strangers and especially inside a classroom!) BUT when they get to know me I'm the complete opposite. I love proving first impressions wrong. But at the same time I wouldn't mind if people feared me just a tad bit. -__-

But despite what I wrote above, I know I could never just be mean, especially for no apparent reason. I treat people how they want to be treated. Been doing that since I was a kid. But I need to change some aspects of my personality and I will have my guard up whenever I meet new people; whether it be new friends, classmates or potential wooers.

Just a bit pleased that I'm at a point where I feel a bit refreshed and renewed. Where as each day passes by, I'm leaving a lot of my negative thoughts behind me and just looking forward to each new day. I do what I do for me.

I feel like a dove. Specifically the dove featured in Queen's "Save Me" music video. Ok that sounded weird, but I hope I made my point!

As for the the picture above, I've always labeled it as my 'lost' picture. It seemed to match the topic of my post.
But anyways it is from a mini photo shoot that Mel and I did for Mary Anne's suicide awareness ad. Good times!! I should post some pics next time just for laughs and nostalgia purposes.

I can
hear it.
I can hear some words, but I can't do anything with your
easy words.

The first time I watched the movie Closer was back in 2005 (with Mel), when I was 15. Even back then the story, acting and music caught my attention. But at that time, I was still too green to even see the true meaning behind it. I was also too young and inexperienced to even relate to any of the main characters.

Last week Mel and I re watched the film and wow..it sure made more of an impact on us. We actually understood the film a bit more. As for me, I felt I read between a lot of the scenes and caught onto more details.

I saw a lot of myself in the character of Alice (played by Natalie Portman), minus the stripper thing lol.

I felt she was the only pure character with a pure heart. She wasn't a saint by any means, but I felt most of her intentions were good.
She genuinely loved someone who ended up hurting/treating her badly.

"Why isn't love enough?" Alice says.

I especially admire what she did at the end, I felt she was the strongest character out of the 4.

Interesting that Closer was originally a play. I'd love to see that.

Speaking of Natalie, I've always been fond of her and her style.
For me, she is one of the prettiest faces in Hollywood. She DID pull off the bald look!
And she graduated from Harvard; so she has beauty AND brains.
Oh and she is a vegan! Smile Tien. ^_^

I also feel she is the only actress today who slightly resembles the lovely Audrey Hepburn.
Watch Roman Holiday, during the haircut scene.. they have similar smiles/features, though their body structures differ: Audrey being tall & thin; while Natalie is more on the short/petite side.

Natalie wearing the famous little black dress
Audrey wore in Breakfast At Tiffany's:

Original:

More proof:

Of course there is only one Audrey Hepburn; she is an original and we will never see the likes of her again.

But if they ever decide to make a biopic of her life, Natalie HAS to do it. Screw JLH! -_-

If anyone is interested, here's the haircut scene that I mentioned earlier. I'm sure you'll see some similarities. ;)
